A London Model, with Shipping Included!

One of the few times I wish I had more than one source photo. This could've been a multi-parter!

Made this for Maxine LeStrange, who has a 2 for 1 caption return offer if she is placed in a pink outfit for the rest of the month. A bonus caption if its a black polka dot on pink dress. Figured I would do that as I was looking for inspiration. She has a thing for mannequins too, and when I saw this picture, I knew I could work with it.

Hope everyone is having a good Valentine's Day weekend. Saturday night sucked for us as the hallway hard-wired fire alarms in our apartment building went out due to the frigid temperatures .. for five hours straight from 3:30 AM to about 8 AM .. and has been going off every half hour since until we can whisk the cold air away from the sensor, usually without success.

Needless to say I am cranky and irritable today, but made the best out of the situation by booking a hotel for Valentine's Day in between blasts of fire alarm. Can't really afford it but we got a really good rate for a place that lets you stay until NOON! WOOO! So we'll be getting our beauty sleep, while the neighbors .. not sure what they are going to do.

Also, as far as I know, we did NOT get a visit at all from the police or fire department! That is the most interesting part of all of this! Then again, they had to come last year for the same thing so perhaps it is in their records to not visit our place if it is cold out!

DISCUSSION QUESTION: Are you doing, or already done something for Valentine's Day? Was it a fun holiday or a soul-sucking void of despair? Let us know what you did, and if it was more fun than fire alarms for 4 hours straight!

  1. I like the conversation and the idea, Dee. A good caption in my opinion. I like the way you worked "technically" in there.

As for Valentines? Did my nails, watched a movie and enjoyed the long weekend. Sorry to hear about all the alarms. Get some rest and keep up the great work!

    1. Thanks. the alarms sort of ended up being a blessing in disguise at least since we ended up pulling out an alternative plan for Valentine's Day. Made it a bit of a staycation to end up at a motel for the night with the GF. Sounds like you had a decent time as well. Next year, pamper yourself and go to a salon!

And for the technicality, models aren't known for consuming many calories when working, and I'm guessing that Maxine doesn't get a whole lot of time off!

    1. Yeah! Apparently we have many more fans of mannequins there than i originally thought. I'm sure we can find some fashion stores to use them, right?

  4. The fire alarms sound very unfortunate. Glad that your day turned out better in the end! :)

    1. Yeah, the GF really appreciated the gesture. I mean, I had headphones and listened to music so I was able to get a bit of sleep. Even in the hotel, at certain points when it was silent, she could "hear" remnants of the sound of the alarm, it was so ingrained into her at that point! But yes, other than in the financial sense, it turned out much better than it could have.
