ITS ELECTRIC .. BOOGIE WOOGIE WOOGIE!
This caption just sort of fell into place once I figured out who I was going to use the picture for. I had done the "setting" a few weeks ago but wasn't feeling the actual caption at the time so I just let it sit in a folder for the time being. I wanted to make something for Melina but her preferences are quite detailed, and I had a hard time working with them. I like guidance when it comes to preferences, but I still like to control the plot and decide how I want things to go and it took me some time to think of something that she would enjoy.
That all being told, I still enjoy this one very much, and since I'm a fan of strange non-fiction, I got to bring in some of those quasi-scientific theories of the past like Reich, who is sort of the psych version of Tesla, though Tesla was much more accomplished and misunderstood. I also did a report on Aleister Crowley for a folklore class in college, so I knew of his using sex magick to generate elemental power for his witchery. I think that referencing these real people make the story seem a bit more plausible, especially if you do have somewhat of a background in metaphysical matters or quack science of the 1st half of the 20th century .. at least a smidgen of gravitas it wouldn't have had if I made the old scientist Anton Jenkins.
Other touches I really like include that the body change has been acknowledged and they get down to business. They both are smart and you can tell there is a history between them and they are ready to get down to brass tacks business wise. Damien shows that he doesn't mind having sex with Melina even knowing she was Alex ... as an investment opportunity he could become rich beyond belief, so whats a little sex between acquaintances when money and a hot chick are involved? I also like that there is, at least until the end, a power struggle where they are equals, even when Melina is naked and talking to Damien. If the caption story continued on. I would assume that Damien would gain control more as he became more comfortable in a woman's body. Its obvious that Alex has gotten his bearings as a female and wants Damien in 100 percent. After the experiment, I would assume they'd work something out, but business wise and probably gender wise too!
I might post on Saturday if I get the chance. Well, I HOPE to post on Saturday, perhaps tomorrow if the weather is still pretty bad out so keep checking in! (edit: I actually FORGOT to post this last night sooooo I guess I AM posting on Friday after all!)
DISCUSSION QUESTION: What upcoming SOMETHING are you looking forward to? Could be a movie, book, CD, vacation or journey, event .. tell me what you are anxious to see arrive soon!
Fun cap Dee! I didn't recognize the two 'scientist' names you used, and just assumed they were a new form of 'Jenkins'. But with their backstory, the cap does work a little better.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that I'm looking forward too is gainful employment. There ARE movies that I want to see, books I want to read, music I want to listen to and other events I would like to participate in, but they are all predicated on me having the money to enjoy them (or waiting for them to be gifted to me).
I had heard of Crowley back as a teenager, due to "Mr. Crowley" from Ozzy Osbourne off his first solo album, "Blizzard of Oz" and how Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) was obsessed with him. He was a big part of my report on "How the Devil Has Infiltrated Music" relating from Paganini and Robert Johnson, etc ... with Crowley being a big part of the story.
DeleteReich came later as part of a short story from one of the "Hot Blood" horror series. I believe it was in the 3rd book, "Hottest Blood" by Grant Morrison .. yup, THAT Grant Morrison and the story was "The Room Where Love Lives" and its an INCREDIBLE story. Pretty much SMITTY meets Neil Gaiman. I don't want to give away too much because its worth tracking it down if you can find it.
The "Hot Blood" series actually had a few TG elements in it. I believe one was called "Genderella" which was a lot of fun to read! I believe that was from the 1st book in the series.
I lost most of my books during one of my moves and I'm actually going to order Hottest Blood on Amazon so I can get this story again. Grant Morrison never usually disappoints.
Here's an article about Grant Morrison. Really awesome fucked up dude!

I hope your caption inspires someone to create a device like that. Like I said at the Haven; with this the Haven could power the world.
ReplyDeleteWould I dare to admit I knew about Reich and Crowley? Or is it better to deny it?
Tough one(Nah, not really. Its way to much fun to know about them).
I don't think you could find a better matching video than this for this caption.
Electric Light Orchestra, I still have their albums on the black vinyl. Still love it.
Well I have a holiday coming up in a few weeks, if all goes well. I didn't plan anything, so I might end up spending way too much time at Rachel's Haven (is there even such a thing?)
As for movies, I am curious about 'Oz the great and powerful', no matter how the movie turns out, Rachel Weisz is in it.
Mmm, Rachel's Haven, Rachel Weisz, I also like Rachel McAdams, Rachel Blakely and Rachel Hurd-Wood.
It's becoming Rachel's Heaven for me.

PS
I took Caitlin's suggestion to create a blogger account (again thanks' for the suggestion) so I'm not anonymous anymore.
but it should have said Radiant Helena, instead of Helena Radiant. Never mind, this works too.
So glad you aren't anonymous anymore! Helena Radiant sounds pretty kewl too though! Sort of like a cousin to Johnny Rotten.
DeleteI mentioned in Caitlyn's comment where I learned about Reich and Crowley.
I figured that *I* am an Evil Woman and ELO has electricity in it so it worked!
Did you ever hear the backward masked part of an ELO album. When I did a presentation in communications class in college, I did it on backward masking and the difference between an engineered message and shit luck. One of the ones I mentioned was ELO.
A cousin to Johnny Rotten? GREAT! Definitely works for me :-D
DeleteI myself am not sure where my knowledge of Reich and Crowley originates, I did read a lot of horror and SF and also books about quack scientists.
I haven't read any books of the 'Hot Blood' series, but I encountered TG elements in quite a few horror stories, some of them I could place under the label horror because of the method of transformation. Most were just fun. Usually I labelled them: 'I wish...'
the backward masking vaguely rings a bell, but it doesn't surface. Did it have anything to do with the satanic allegations that were made against them, because of a message on one of their songs that could be heard if played backwards? It's not something I ever tried, I was always afraid I would either ruin my record, the needle, or both.
It was in response to those who said that he'd (Jeff Lynne) put satanic messages in El Dorado. He made an engineered one pretty much to show the difference. You can hear it at this youtube link. If you can't watch it in your country, just search our ELO backward masking.

Harnessing orgasm's to power a city block? Heck, I'll be a power generator if I end up looking like that!
ReplyDeleteWhat am I looking forward to? Well, Starcraft 2, heart of the swarm is coming out next week, but I won't be getting it right away. And Evil dead's remake is out next month, but i won't be seeing that either for the same reasons.
I've been taking all of my money, since the beginning of the year, to help buy my first car. It's a whole long story, but i guess i would say that's what I'm most looking forward to. Though i have no idea if I will be able to get it this year, or next.
uhh.. I suppose wrestlemania would be the one thing for sure that is happening soon, and that I'm looking forward to. It's a bit of a tradition with me and my brothers, so we are doing that together. Looking forward to takers match vs cm punk! though it's bitter sweet, what with Paul bearer's passing. :(
@ Helena radiant
Hi! ^_^ Nice to meet you! Oz does look good, though I'm most excited for it because of Mila! :)
WHOOPS! I was trying to delete a comment that Helena deleted and when I did, it took out her other comment. Sorry about that Helena!
DeleteThe gist was that she thanked Jennifer for welcoming her and she really likes Mila too!
