Thank You .. I really mean it!

Other than "I love you," there are no better words to hear than "Thank you!"

I'd just like to take the time to thank EACH and EVERY reader of this blog. I truly appreciate the page hits, comments, and those who follow me. Every day I check to see if I've added anyone to my list of Dee-ciples from the night before. When it rises by one, I squee in delight that someone else has thought enough of my efforts to "tag" me as good enough to be notified of when my blog is updated.

Feedback is essential, and we look for all sorts of things that show we are wanted.

In the Haven, its when people continue to make captions for me .. knowing that I will make them a caption in return. That makes me feel wanted AND knowing that I have 44 pages of captions made for me (only Bren has more on the Haven) means that I am much appreciated in my mind.

Knowing that I've helped many people when they started out captioning also makes me feel cherished. "This is the first time I've made a caption and I created it for you .. /list of reasons/ thank you for your comments and support" .. I've gotten that quite a few times and it makes me so happy. People like Petra, Caitlyn and others that have gone on to much acclaim.

It also thrills me when people have questions and ask my opinion. I feel like a valuable cog in the whole TG genre that I've admired for years and being a creator of for almost 5 years. At this point in time, I feel like a combination TG historian and Fairy Godmother, and I actually have no problem with that at all. The fact that I've gotten some renown is comforting and the recognition is addictive.

Why am I saying all this? No I am not retiring and I am not fishing for compliments, nor am I trying to toot my own horn. I am stating this because I think that we in the community need to "pay it forward" now and again, and I've not held up my end of the bargain enough lately. Since I am just about done swapping all my programs, files, hard drive, etc .. into the new computer, I haven't really taken the time to comment too much on others blogs or even more, in the Haven.

I am taking a challenge, and hope you will too. I plan on making 5 comments a day, every day for the next 30 days, on others stories, captions, or blogs. In the grand scheme of things, I don't think that is TOO difficult to do. Find something you like, and give feedback. Seems easy, doesn't it? I figure that if I can do that for 30 days in a row, then it SHOULD become a habit and I'll continue to do it into the future. It really shouldn't be a hassle considering the amount of joy others are spreading for free!

Soooooo, how many of you would take my challenge? One a day, two a day .. whatever it takes! You'll be spreading more good around than you can even imagine!

DISCUSSION TOPIC: You know of any new captioners out there that could use some support, praise, gentle guidance and critique? Post the link below OR if it is someone on the Haven, their screen name, and hopefully we'll have some people from here checking out their work. We must not forget the veterans of the captioning world either. Lets not take them for granted!

  1. Tho I have not signed up as a member I do check your site almost daily .. and figured I'd mention that I do like your creations when I find the new ones on your blog. - Monica

    1. Glad to hear that you check in regularly!

At some point soon I will have more "new" captions. Almost done moving everything over to the spiffy new computer.

  2. I like where you are coming from Dee. I have always enjoyed your caps and you are right, commenting more on the work done by others is something that all of "Cappers" should do. I mean I made a new friend through commenting back and forth with Jodie from Jodie's slutty heaven and that is something I wasn't expecting when i started capping. Pretty much every one I have spoken to from capping has been super nice and encouraging and that's something we all need in our lives. So I will do my best to live up to your challenge!

    1. Well, feel free to ask away if you have any questions, and I hope you do make comments to encourage others in their artistic endeavors.

Most of my online TG friends I've made have been through commenting on others work. Its how you get to know other people and what they like. Its often given me ideas to try out in caption format as well.

  3. I'm not sure I'll take up this challenge. Not that I don't think its a worthy cause... just that I don't think it will help either me or the people I'm commenting to. To get five a day in I would more than likely have a few that were verations on 'nice cap!'. and while I know that even that little affirmation can make someone's day, it just makes me feel bad that I couldn't come up with something 'more'.

And it's not like the caps don't deserve the praise. Most that I read are worth more than that... I just have that dull non creative vibe going through me and find it difficult to articulate what I actually find enjoyable. And when I AM feeling creative, I tend to pour that into a cap.

I will do this though... I'll try to muster up the proper prose to comment both nicely and creatively to a cap a day. That would be a significant change for me.
