Law & Order: DVU (Dee's Victim Unit) .. DUN DUN!

You know how much I love tonal shifts and Zingers!

This caption is quite Dee-like, but also, a little bit different. It's very much exposition, and I can hear Sgt. Joe Friday narrating the story as if it was the conclusion to an episode of Dragnet. (Hmmmm, Dragnet .. now that is a title that needs TG captions written about it!) It's somewhat dry, but a solidly crafted idea flushed out ..

.. and then we get to the final sentence / paragraph which lowers the boom, where it goes from Dragnet to Police Squad / Naked Gun. It's a lot of fun as is, but if you know that the recipient of the caption is named Jay Seaver, then to me it raises the frivolity slightly higher and turns it into a dad joke. Plus, I love the idea of a Stepford Prison .. seems like the evolution of the idea of a 1970's Stepford Wife into what we have today with the whole culture wars coming into play.

For me, this is the kind of caption that ShySteffie would have enjoyed reading on the Haven back 12 years ago. God I miss her and Petra! I do hope that they stop in occasionally and get a chuckle out of what I'm creating now, and hope it's up to the quality of what I've made in the past. Fingers crossed!

Honestly, I really love the Dragnet movie made in the 80's, and who wouldn't want to see Dan Ackroyd and Tom Friggin' Hanks dance and rap in a music video? Paula Abdul was the choreographer!

  1. Loads of fun reading that caption trying out the different voice tones. Of course I agree with the mode of justice.
Oh and I loved those shows too.

    1. Law and Order marathons were such a 2010's staple on cable television! You end up just absorbing it all!

  2. Leaves you wondering how one qualifies as a sponsor/husband to the former criminals when they leave...

    1. Hmmm, hadn't thought about that. What do you suggest?

    2. not really seeing much captionable... could always have the politicians take them, showing their "dedication to rehabilitation" (not hurting that looks like Donna Mills, with maybe a little Morgan Fairchild blended in?) as the political wife. Could pass them along to supporters, for campaign contributions or outright bribes, or even make whistleblowers or political rivals vanish on trumped up (no pun intended, that WAS the term long before now) charges. But those are all longer form. More fitting for, say, Fictionmania than caps.
