It's not often that I make an caption that seems so animated, yet lifelike!
Yeah, read the caption first, and it helps if you are up on pop culture from the last 60 years or so, and the more you know, the better you'll get the references, but it should at least be enjoyable, even if you don't know what it is referencing. My question would be .. how long before you knew what it was about? Please tell me in the comment section please! Anyone get it from the 1st or 2nd paragraph, along with the picture? I am betting a few did!
I had a productive day of captioning, and I only did it for about 90 minutes. It started because Kaaren left me a short comment on the last post, and when I went looking at pictures for captioning, something immediately gave me something I could use. That will be coming up at some point soon, I promise.
But just after I had finished, I went back to the same folder online and found ANOTHER photo I could use, and I let Kaaren's influence and preferences work their way into that one as well. That caption you won't see until we get closer to Halloween, but it's fairly naughty and sexy and fun.
Then I came across this picture, and immediately I knew what I had to work with. I wish that Bimbo Jessica and Petra and Shy Steffie were around to see this one, as Steffie had made reference to the same pop culture reference back 10-12 years ago, though she Photo-shopped hers.
So that makes THREE captions today, and I made TWO yesterday, so at the very least, I've got about 2 weeks of blog posts coming where I don't have to re-post anything that I've done before, unless I have a good reason to do so. New content? Yes indeed! I'm guessing that is what people keep coming back for!
I spent my childhood listening to the Chipmunks and I am ashamed it took me until the final paragraph to put two and two together.
ReplyDeleteI was trying to be somewhat subtle about it until the 5th paragraph, and then I decided to lay it on a bit thicker. I don't blame you too much though, as I never referred to them a chipmunks, so I can get that you didn't quite follow.
DeleteAnd I didn't realize you had a blog! I will add you to the rolls in the right hand column soon! Enjoying your work on the Haven and FM.
It was about the third paragraph for me. I love that you got the bit about the witch doctor in there as well.
ReplyDeleteThe caption mostly started out with David having issues with the "boys" and him doing the "auntie" thing of changing them into girls, and them still being troublesome .. and "ALLLLVIIINNNNAAAA!" but as I started writing, having the witch doctor change them worked out really well, especially since David Seville is credited with that song. Then the "two front teeth" "Christmas Don't Be Late" and the pop group all just fell into place.
DeleteIt's weird when you can get TG inspirations from some strange pop culture references and have them work out for the best!
I suspected by the second paragraph but knew it by the third!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad my one little comment seemed to have motivated you....isn't that he way it goes....you just never know where the inspiration fairy is lurking!!!!
A very fun cap Dee!!!

Of everyone, I had that nagging suspicion that you'd catch on fairly early. I was pretty happy that many parts of the Chipmunk multi-verse fit in so well with what I was looking to do.
DeleteAnd yes, inspiration can come from many places, for me, it's usually real life stuff and things I see .. and lately it hadn't been much good stuff, and that can definitely make its way into what I create .. so I'm happy when something goofy like this can be made and have others enjoy it.
And yes, that also means we've got at least one bench caption in the queue!
Got it in 3.... when I saw the A I was going Hawthorne - but when I saw Theo it all came together.
ReplyDeleteThank you for thinking me as more literate than I actually am! LOL
DeleteI do know of Hawthorne, though I preferred "The Birth-Mark".
But glad we are on the same page. I hadn't even thought of the scarlet letter when I looked at the picture, though maybe because the font was really close to Alvin's shirt. I had even thought of Laverne from Laverne and Shirley!
