A Suspension of Disbelief! And HOLY SHIT! MY 1000th Blog Post!

I couldn't have done it without your undying interest .. and photoshop! LOTS OF STUFF INSIDE!

Well, what can I possibly say here that haven't already in the previous 999 posts? I never expected to hit 1k, if I was being honest, but I enjoy making and discussing captions, so it doesn't really seem like work to me. I've made sissy friends, drag queen friends, real life friends .. and been through lots of ups and downs with all of you ... and we are still going strong from what I can see. I look forward to many more milestones, lots of sexy and fun captions,  and just plain old 'meh' posts too. How about you? Right now I feel like the Willy Wonka of TG captioning, but with plenty of behind the scenes footage that haven't been seen yet!

For this special occasion, I asked a few people, past and present, to contribute something to help celebrate with me. A few never answered, specifically Petra and Steffie, and I didn't expect them to as they have mostly moved on. It would have been nice, but I don't think they even check their fe-mails that much anymore.

Here is the gist of the emails I sent out:
I figured I would ask a few long time friends / colleagues, including some who haven't posted in awhile, to make a caption for me in celebration, which I will post to my blog when the post # hits 1k.
If you don't wish to participate, I won't mind at all. If you would like to say a few words instead, that would also be appreciated. I will probably send out about 8 of these invites total, figuring that maybe 3-4 will be able and willing.
My only "demand" would be that YOU are in the caption with me: as a source of the change, the recipient of the change, a bystander, or we get 'girled' at the same time. Just something that we can share together.
I never would've thought I could hit 1k posts. I was pretty reluctant to even start up the blog, figuring "who would want to read about my thoughts on TG captions and life in general?" But it was friends like you that kept me going.
Hope to hear from you soon!

Dee
I am posting this caption with some trepidation, as Hailey Pixley, her website AND email, seem to have been removed. I got this caption from her about 2 weeks ago, and hopefully she'll be back. If not, this could be the last caption she's created that hasn't been seen yet. I guess this speaks to the ephemeral nature that our TG community can have, where people often vanish with no warning.

The next one comes from probably my longest running captioning friend, Mistress Simone, who I've known for over 9 years now. We started almost at the same time, and ran with the same circle of friends. I hate to say it, but we all were probably the clique of the Haven, and were quite mischievous in our shenanigans. How we ever got into positions of power is beyond me, although perhaps it was to make sure we DID behave, as authority figures we had to remain "above the fray" so to speak. This blog exists because of how we, along with Bren, Jennifer, and others, would have discussions on the creation of captions, how the behind the scenes nuts and bolts and thoughts meshed together, and felt that others might be interested too. Well, somehow, I think Jennifer and Simone were right!

Actually, this isn't from Simone, but I think you figured that out due to the sloppy partridge family background borders, etc .. Simone didn't have time to finish up something for me at this deadline, so I made this as a place holder. We can definitely celebrate my 1,023rd blog posting or what have you!

And last, but certainly not least, we have Caitlyn aka Caitlyn Masked. She actually started her blog so that she could comment here, which lead to her making her own captions. That just might be my crowning fucking achievement .. to get her hooked enough so that so many others could end up enjoying her stellar work. When I think about community and friendships created by this common ground, Caitlyn is what I think about, Here is a SEVENTEEN panel caption. ENJOY!

Well! That was something awesome! And when I read the last panel, the room suddenly got very dusty, as I had to wipe some tears out of my eyes. Hate when that happens!

Thank you to everyone that has ever traded a caption with me, and also to those who take part in the DIY Challenges that we do each month. Most of all, to all those who comment .. you really do drive this blog. It gives me direction as to what to post, and I cherish all the responses, good and bad.

DISCUSSION QUESTION: Are you still reading this? Yikes! Talk about the fun captions up above, and talk about your favorite moments in the last 1k posts. Just talk though! Let's have a conversation worthy of the ages!

Let's dance the night away in celebration. Just warning you, EVERY neck is in play tonight!

  2. Congratulations to you with this milestone, Dee.
While your and Hailey's caps are great, and the coupon cap was funny, all worth a milestone like this, Caitlin's cap left me in awe. My English actually fails me to describe my opinion properly.

    1. Yeah, I totally agree. When she told me that she had quite a few panels, I had a feeling it was going to be epic.

And thanks! I think you've been around for most of the posts too!

  5. Great cap Dee. The idea of going through a normal girl’s lifetime worth of sexual development…. Wow! Maybe Hailey’s cap is part of that process… I’m sure most girls have a fantasy of waking up in fishnet panty hose and leotards while feeling each other up. Right?

I don’t know if I could pick out a single favorite moment, or even a top five. The one thing about your 1000th posts that I’ve adored is the consistency. The way that you post cap after cap and each with it’s own discussion opportunity. That’s very special to me!

Congrats on the milestone, and I’m sure it won’t be long until we’re celebrating again!

    1. I might elaborate more on the caption I used above as the header in the next post .. as I thought it was a pretty good idea.

Thank you for the consistency comment, as that seems to be an issue once you get to a certain number of captions created. How do you keep them fresh for yourself, when often many of the recipients don't mind receiving slight variations of the same theme over and over. I honestly think that what I consider to be a negative, my ADHD tendencies, end up as a side benefit when captioning: not only do I think in short bursts, I can just hop into a situation from a variety of angles quickly, and hopefully find something interesting before I get bored. That is where the discussion comes from, to find the nugget that puts something into motion. Once you find it, the foundation is there.

And thank you for making this milestone so memorable. I love the fact that you went beyond your sensibilities, and probably had to hold back some things you would never do in a regular caption .. all to make something enjoyable for me on a special occasion. You are a great friend, and a remarkable person, no matter what sort of underwear you have on at the moment! I can't wait to see what your regular followers of your blog have to think when they see THIS posted!

  6. Just a note that March 27th is the anniversary of your very first caption - eight years ago and April 1 is the date of your first trading caption at the Haven. There's some cosmic significance in it being that date i'm sure. It's not the number of posts that amzes me it's the length of time you've been posting. Maintaining this blog for eight years in this day and age where things come and go overnight is an achievement in and of itself. To do so and keep the high standards you do for your captions is a marvelous achievement that the rest of us can only aspire to.

    1. This is your life .. Dee Mentia! I didn't know I was coming up on my anniversaries, so thanks for the head's up on that!

And thank you for the compliments. The length of time is something I also didn't think about much, as I pretty much take it one day at a time. As you've mentioned, people do tend to appear and then vanish, and I hope that my sticking around makes others comfortable. "Well, I haven't been to the Haven in three years, wonder what is going on there? Look at that, Dementia has posted a new caption. Feels like I've only been gone a day or two!"

I've been blessed with a fairly stable home life and a relative lack of writer's block over the years .. and even more, captioners that wish to trade with me, and people that keep coming back here to visit and chat a bit about whatever I have to say.

Once again, thank you for the kind words.

  8. 1K posts Already?! Yikes, I'm so way behind you. That's some commitment right there. Congrats Dee!

Have to say I didn't read at all that material, but still lots of great questions along the years... YEARS! Can you imagine that? Years spent doing really crafty captions and making wonderful questions. Okay, okay enough with the high praise *giggle*

One should say and ask where do you do get the time or maybe I'm an incredible and not surprisingly a lazy person. But seriously thanks for all the crazy fun years and conversations done in this blog.

Here's to many, many, many more posts of you.

    Hugs and Kisses Alectra

P.S: I can and will send you something to celebrate your achievement. If you want!

    1. Well, I know you have been busy with schooling and you had health issues too. I mostly caption when I can, and they don't usually take me that long to do, maybe 20 minutes or so, once I find an image. The blogs take longer to write up, but since I have a background in computer programming, I am a pretty good typist, as anyone that has talked to me on YIM has probably noticed.

      Thanks for the praise Alectra!
