Oh Noes! Our Football Season is in .. JEOPARDY!

Maybe football players should just smoke weed like basketball players do!

Well, not sure if you are up on your football news, but this came out on Friday, and I just HAD to use it in a caption, because what this QB said was quite amusing, and yet also bizarre. We are so used to athletes giving us banal, cliched quotes, that when something like this comes down the pike, you HAVE to pay attention!

Everything that I quoted in this caption is 100 percent real, and in context.  The only thing I cut out was, "to be able" in the 1st sentence of the 2nd paragraph, and that was to keep the flow of the text looking smooth.

He is referring to his use of ayahuasca, a plant-based herbal remedy containing various psychoactive chemicals including DMT (N, N-Dimethyltryptamine), well-known for its hallucinogenic properties. It's a lot like magic mushrooms or peyote. Things like ayahuasca have been used by shamans for centuries, and lately, rich, bored assholes who think that tripping once is going to open up their world to life-altering experiences.

Not saying it can't happen, and perhaps Mr. MVP QB did have a drug-induced perception shift .. but just how he described it was so much fun to listen to. Do we really want to hear any of our athletes use the phrase, "as a lover"? I can't imagine Bill Belichick ever saying that word, and thank goddess for that! Also, "sensation of one hundred different hands' on my body, imparting a blessing of love .." would sound odd in any other place, other than perhaps a romance novel?

Anyway, with that quote, and the idea of DMT meaning something different in TG land, I got to work, creating a small framing device, mostly to highlight that wonderfully baffling and cringy set of remarks. I didn't even use all of his quotes, which first appeared on a Packers podcast. Here's another bit, ""The greatest gift I can give my teammates, in my opinion, is to be able to show up and to be someone who can model unconditional love to them," Maybe the modern NFL is much more of a touchy-feely type league, if by touchy, you mean, the sensations of one hundred different hands on your body. Hmmm, 53 man game-day roster = 106 hands!

Oh, the caption title is based on the fact that Aaron was also a guest host for Jeopardy after Alex Trebek died a year or two ago. See, that is what you get here .. Pop Culture Layers!

  1. Not to the caption, but the guy before him with the Packers was also a drama queen. Is there something in the water up there that causes great QB play and spacy behavior?

    1. I totally agree with you, BUT they've had like 30 years of QB excellency so maybe they should bottle it for other teams!

    1. Yea, I know! The real stuff can be very powerful and usually they want you to have a guide with you to help you navigate through your visions.
