Well, you know how bad girls get? They listen to Spotify!
Just a silly bit of fun here on a random Tuesday after President's Day weekend. I had a rough weekend, as I'm recovering from a car accident. Someone blew a red light and took the entire front end off my classic car. No wheels at the moment, and awaiting some words .. hopefully good ones .. from my car insurance company since this was a long weekend .. gah! Anyway, I'm ok, other than a bit of a wrenched knee.
Yes, it's mostly a riff on a song from The Police in the mid 80's, and the GOOD version, not that piece of shit that Sting remixed for their greatest hits album. Nothing like taking a joyous bouncy song and turning it into a depressing dirge. Not as bad as Eric Clapton taking Layla and making it a stupid shuffle, but close.
I don't usually compose captions where the model is set so small in the setting, with a lot of "dead space" so to speak .. but here I wanted to really convey that they were in a school, as opposed to just some random hallway, and having the corridor stretch out far, with obvious scholastic things on the walls .. so I went with it. And with that comes a smallness that shows how little power or agency Mr. Jenkins has at that moment. So I think it all worked out for the best, or at least I can justify it on at least two counts.
I should have one more post this week, probably on Thursday, as I'm heading on a weekend mini-vacation to Amish Country somewhere in Pennsylvania.
So sorry to hear about the accident Dee. Please make sure you’re okay as sometimes things get rough after a couple of days.
ReplyDeleteGet checked out by your doctor just to be sure.
Too bad about the car. I hope your insurance covers everything.
Did they get the person who hit you? I hope so.
I liked the picture and it reminded me of a certain sissy that once wore my school uniform when we were teenagers.
But that’s a story for another day.
Love
Mrs K
Thanks Mrs. K! I am hanging in there. Mostly emotional and psychological damage. And honestly, my insurance company is the one doing most of that, not the other driver's insurance. There might be a switch coming in the Mentia household! My car is totaled and it's an old Mercedes, so you know it did a great job in protecting me! I won't get nearly what it's worth, but it did save me from a large amount of bodily harm.
DeleteAnd awww, that sounds like such a sweet story between you and Kaaren, and yet kinky too .. which the two of you seemed to hit that sweet spot often!
Sorry to hear about the accident, hope both recovery and I insurance proceed as swiftly and positively as they can.
ReplyDeleteYes, I was summoned by an 80s synth reference. Strong words in the staffroom, the accusations fly!
Thanks Joanna. I'm not going to get nearly what I put into my car. It's a classic, though I just looked up that cars over 25 years old are now considered vintage, so it was a vintage car.
DeleteThe car was made at least a decade after that song came out though. With you in your field, I would have thought the Nabakov reference would have done it!
Oh, that too. I have read the book and never properly formed an opinion on it (he doesn't seem to turn up much in my Russian history noodlings). :)
DeleteGlad the car kept you safe! Wait, vintage? Decade after the song? 😱😱🫣
Sorry to hear about your accident, Dee. Get some rest and get to feeling better. Hope your vacation helps.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I am wondering a bit if I'll be able to deal with a 6-8 hour drive, but my body is feeling better now.
