Vitamin Dee .. It Does a Body Good!

Made this as a 15 minute challenge on Discord the other day. How'd I do? Let me know inside!

Honestly, I am not sure if I have ripped myself off through this caption, though if I did, I'm sure it's different enough not to be a complete forgery. As I mentioned in one of the most recent postings, it can be REALLY hard to not repeat plots that I've done before .. other than try to look at things from a different point of view, maybe make a few twists, or subvert the original plot completely.

So, anyway. It was early Saturday morning-ish, and I popped on Evie's Discord channel, and someone named Raatilam put the image up and wanted to know what others could come up with. I didn't mind the ascetic of the picture, though it is probably something I would not have singled out to make a caption with, so I decided to make a challenge of making one up in 10 minutes (which I changed into 15 because I DO like to proof-read, plus saving it to the hard drive, uploading it to Discord, etc ..) and went to work right away at plugging through the endeavor.

First I had to set up the caption setting, by placing the photo into where it needed to be, setting up the shading, pulling out the colors for the gradient fade, grabbing a text box, etc .. and then I was able to flush out a story quickly enough.  The biggest drags to my time was looking up the various muscle groupings for the correct spellings, and what the exact name of the "groinal" musculature so that I could focus on that .. someone who was a workout warrior would obviously know them all. I I spent the last few minutes proofing it all, duplicating the text so the shading would be right after resizing the text boxes, naming it, then uploading it to Discord.

Exactly 15 minutes from when I posted, "I'll give it a shot right now. My challenge will be 10 minutes for everything, including caption setting, etc ..." until I posted the picture to the channel, with a blurb of, "Quick plot explanation: Your skin is supposed to absorb sunlight, and then your body creates Vitamin D from it. I wondered if perhaps Rami used Vitamin Dee instead!" And just in under the wire!

So, now that I've looked at it again .. would I change anything and how do I feel about it? I might have reworked the wording a bit, as it does seem a bit clunky in spots. Definitely would have changed the color of Rana's thoughts to highlight it a bit. It's not dialog, but since there isn't any in this caption, I don't think it would have hurt it overall. And the pressure to finish it quickly led to what I think is a great closing line / zinger that just came to me as I was trying to wrap it up .. and it tied everything nicely into a bow, like I planned for that!

I'm pretty pleased with the caption, and I'm glad I was up to the challenge. And it's something you could do as well .. just go to a favorite porn site, or even just a regular image web page, and think of a random number, find that picture, and give yourself 3 minutes to come up with a story / plot involving the people in the image. Place yourself in it if you'd like, and see where you imagination takes you. Maybe you'll end up in a fantasy you never would have dreamed up otherwise!

    1. Glad you liked both the zinger and the singer! I picked this song because the vocalist went on in the 2000's to be known as Vitamin C. Thought that worked in nicely with the plot of the caption.

  3. That's rather impressive (typical British understatement here) and... well, lots of practice! Honestly would pay for that product with the money I really don't have - which is to say, I'd go into debt for it.

Also, I may be a heathen, I have never heard of Eve's Plum before. And I am wondering how. Adding it to my rabbit hole list for later.

    1. Glad I impressed you! Knowing how I am, I'd probably would have posted it, even if it did suck, but it's always better when something good comes out of experiments / challenges.

And Eve's Plum is a relatively obscure band from the mid 90's. My band was lined up to open for them, but didn't end up getting the gig. Considering they didn't play many live shows, it'd have been fun to have been on the bill. As I mentioned above, I picked the song because the vocalist is probably better known now as Vitamin C, who had a hit or two in the early 2000's.
