"Demons Don't Use the Metric System" aka "One Tick Too Many!"

Magic spells from 100+ years ago are likely to use Old English measurements, right?

Where's everyone been? Make sure you catch up on the previous captions if you haven't seen them!

Well, read the caption first, and then go continue reading afterwards. That way I won't spoil the story line for you. And I am going to explain it in the next paragraph in case you don't get it, like maybe if you have been involved with the metric system your entire life.

OK, so this caption is pretty much a rip-off of a great scene from Spinal Tap. Nigel writes out the dimensions for the Stonehenge figure that is supposed to be their stage prop .. and it's supposed to be almost to scale. However, what he doodles on that napkin has inches listed instead of feet. Of course, you will be able to see what happened down below in the music video for today's post. Do people still watch what I post at the end?

When I saw this picture, I knew what it would be, and who it'd be for. Licy likes shrinking captions, and she prefers not to have people use certain models. I figured making a POV caption would work well with both of those preferences. Even more, the person being Damien is a bit fuzzy due to how the photo was composed. Licy would be positioned on the next stool, and only 6 inches tall.

But of course, the ending does beg the question, how did Felix AND Damien become female. Perhaps Damien's wish was relatively normal and was granted in a straight-forward manner, and perhaps Felix figured he'd make a wish for both of them? Was THAT one twisted too, or did Felix make the wish to be female for both of them, and everything was fulfilled exactly as written?

I think it's pretty cool that what we thought was a trickster caption, was actually a literal caption instead, and the wishers actually fooled themselves somehow.

That heads us to the question of the day. "What do you think Damien's wish was? What do you think that Felix's third wish was, and did it include Damien in it, or did Felix get two wishes?"

Of course I was posting this. Incredible movie, and remarkably true for those who've been in bands.

  1. I absolutely love that movie lol. Sex Farm by Spinal Tap is such an amazing song.
This cap is a great callback to that movie and that is a sexy photo. Love it Dee <3
    Hope you are staying healthy!

    1. Doing my best to do so.

I am not sure if I had mentioned it in the last post or not, perhaps in comments on the last post .. my company needs a physical presence in the facilities. We've split up the duties a bit were we each get a day or two to work from home, so there will be one person IN the office for each day we are open. That way, if any of us gets COVID-19, then we won't have gotten everyone else sick and/or quarantined. I'll be working 3 days in the office and 2 back at home. GF still has to attend work, and this week is her 6 day week. UGGH. Well, hopefully we'll be OK and get through this with minimum damage.

Had a feeling that you would enjoy this caption. Someone on the Haven mentioned that really old demons would probably be using cubits and hands. I can't disagree with that too much. I was going under the assumption that the demonology books were written in the middle ages or Renaissance.

    2. The gears of industry must keep turning. The common worker be damned. The plant I work at has not shut down either. At least in death I can take solace in the fact that I created more value for the stockholders of my company :p

I could see demonology. You get bonus points if you can pull off a numerology TG caption. Can’t say I’ve ever seen one of those lol.

    3. Stores are starting to close around here. Not sure that retail stores should be open anyway. Hopefully the employees will be paid. I think my pay is relatively safe, at least compared to others. For the GF, this could be one of those limbo type things. If the company could survive them being closed, then she'd probably get paid. Scary times!

  2. Ha, hilarious.
It could be that Felix was confused because he grew up with the metric system and used the wrong notation because of that, but it could also be that a demon foot is different than a human foot. Especially if they use their own feet for mesurement and the demon has tiny feet.
However I admit, I like the Spinal Tap angle better.

    1. Glad you liked it sweetie! Never thought about demons having tiny feet! Maybe they summoned a fae instead?

  3. I love shrinking captions and I love Spinal Tap and I love you, so I say we have the hat trick . . . except I'm sure that's quarantined too. LOL

As for how they became girls, I'm thinking if they made 1 mistake they could have made 2. My guess is they wished for a pair of chicks instead of chicks. :)

    1. A nocturnal visit from Sally! WOOO! And she came bearing compliments!

It's entirely possible that is what happened, though because it's happened before in captions, including ones I've written, maybe it didn't happen that way at all! LOL

Honestly I have no idea, but that seems the most probable. I would think that one of the wishes that Felix tried to make was, "I wish to be over 6 feet tall and a handful for any lady I meet!" or something like that, but used the " instead of a " and that made the 2nd part even easier to twist. The other two, I left vague because I didn't want to hurt my brain trying to come up with something so OVER-THE-TOP brilliant and cunning that people would have to look at me wearing sunglasses! Who has time for that?!?

    2. Yeah, when you work from home, self-isolation and social distancing actually means you have more people invading your space and taking away from your privacy - one kid off school for 3 weeks and another (and his girlfriend) off work indefinitely. So, I need to find time for myself whenever and wherever I can.

It doesn't help that I've been playing on a super naughty/nasty social profile to sell some books under a new pen-name. She's the kind of sissy I suspect Kaaren would love. :)

    3. Sounds like a crowded household! We both still have to work away from home, so it's been a bit maddening as others are just like, "we are sitting everything out!" while we are trying to scramble to grab what we need. Most stores are closing earlier to clean up the stores while my GF works a modified 2nd shift, meaning I am doing most of the shopping now because 24 hour stores are only open until 8 PM or 9 PM. I'd feel much safer if we were shopping around midnight instead.

I can imagine that some of my life as Dee might be impacted if we are quarantined around the house, but I have probably 2 weeks worth of captions I could post so at least I"m stocked up in that way!

  4. The wish by Damien was a la Goose and Maverick from "Top Gun" (1986): "The bet is 20 dollars! (20 dollars!) To have carnal knowledge...(of a woman this time!)...on the premises! (On the premises!)" And then they suggest that's it not a fair bet, because "She's lost that loving feeling," which sets off a whole 'nother musical reference. ^_^

    1. And Goose's bet demand for "carnal knowledge," as far as I know, does not use the Metric system, despite its far superior scientific and rational qualities. Apparently, the U.S. is the only place where VHS tapes and the English inch still work. Too bad for the demons who have to be universal. ^_^
