Something that was going to be a quickie, but turned out to be a bit more detailed I guess!
I wasn't sure I was going to make something in the next day or two, because honestly the images I've been viewing on the interwebz has sort of sucked .. and then I saw this one and immediately was struck with the idea of "being distracted by shiny objects" so I guess you could say that I was distracted by someone being distracted by a shiny object! So I snagged the picture and put it in a caption setting.
From there it was just fleshing it out, but I figured it would be a quick paragraph or two, and then my brain expanded the story a bit as I was writing it, with the bit about Dee Dee not doing housework anymore, and the protagonist having to pick up the slack .. which led him down the rabbit hole to ditzy housewife mode.
And I am glad I did, and think that the caption is a lot better for it. There's even a bit of foreshadowing so to speak with the butterflies in the background, as the kitchen is a bit of a cocoon for the lady in red.
I guess we could ponder how Dee Dee did this to her tormentor, but I don't have an idea. It'd probably be ironic if it was in some sort of herbal tea supplement, wouldn't it? Feel free to come up with your own theory down below. Also, in case you may have noticed, I did post this last May, but it got no comments and a low page view, so I figured, "Why not post it again?" It'll be posted to my Dee-viant Art account as well!
Perhaps Doralee (Dolly Parton's character from 9 to 5, which is what I'm naming the protagonist in this caption) was getting ready to pour herself a cup of ambition before heading into work?!? Sounds good to me!
First off Dee sorry about your Pats not winning the Super Bowl. I didn’t really have any strong preference over one team or the other personally but since I knew you were a Pats fan, I decided to root for the Pats for you.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the captain, I do like the picture And I liked the story you put with it. I Think where it breaks down exactly what you said. How did it happen? Regardless of how you got to where you got I think it’s kind of fun

Reading over what I just entered above I realized I need to stop using speech to text to enter my captions. I hate all the errors that introduces.

DeleteAs long as things are looked after, then oh yes with so many shiny things about it is so easy to get distracted and worry about your lippy.
ReplyDeleteOne might ASSUME that she applied too much lipstick, but that supposes that there IS such a thing as too much lipstick!
DeleteThere's not such a thing as too much lipstick! You just have to find the right thing to press your lips against to properly blot them!
DeleteThere was some woman, a few years ago now, that did ASMR that was her adding like 100 layers of lip gloss to her lips. It was quite impressive and did make some interesting tingly sounds too.
DeleteFun cap! Love the image. I'm wondering why it didn't get me to comment as the whole Tradwife/Stepford idea has been bubbling up in me lately. But the last few years have been weird and I find it best not to focus on 'why' I did anything.
ReplyDeleteAs for how Dee Dee did it... I honestly pictured it being accidently. She didn't INTEND to do it, but certainly didn't STOP it from happening.
It happens. we're away for a few days, someone else ends up being posted, and we end up not looking at it. This does have an appeal I figure you like, so yeah, at least you've seen it now!
