It's a good thing to upcycle whatever you can .. anything and anyone can be repurposed!
I remember my mom using accessories to make her outfits look different all the time. She'd use a bunch of belts, necklaces, jackets, sweaters, heels and hosiery etc .. to jazz up her basic work wardrobe week after week. After a year or two, perhaps a dress would lose it's sleeves or she'd raise the hem. A year or two after that, it'd go in a yard sale for a few bucks so she could buy newer outfits. She was a petite woman, so often she'd luck out because she was on the lower end of the sizes, and at the end of the seasons, they'd have a size 0 or size 3 .. or she'd get a size 5 and modify it herself.
Anyway, that is what our protagonist is doing, probably with help from his sister. I mean, if you were magically or by some other way changed into a much more petite lady .. it could be quite expensive to get yourself a whole new wardrobe. Especially if you think that there's a possibility you could change back. And I don't know how the stories ends, but here's hoping that there's lots of new sexy clothing for her new body under the Christmas tree!
As an aside, I'd love to think that her hair bow was one a tie he used to wear.
