Oktoberfest 2025 .. Drink Fairly Responsibly, or You'll be Wearing 'Lieber' Hosen!

Welcome to October 2025. And here's to a middle of the week post from yours truly!

By the way, lieber means 'dear' and frau means 'woman' .. as far as I know. LOL

As someone who USED to drink a lot, it was surprising to me that I didn't really get any sort of beer gut until after I quit drinking for good, back when I turned 30. Something about a declining metabolism and all that as you age, sedentary job, blah blah blah.

When I saw this picture, I thought back to those days where I was playing in a country band in the mid 90's, and as a 4 piece, we'd make 300 dollars a night for 4 sets, 50 minutes long, starting at 9 PM. We'd try to get it negotiated into the rider that we'd get a discount on alcohol, because the first few times we played out .. none of us would end up bringing home more than 20 bucks tops when we should have earned 75 bucks each. Our drummer was the worst, as not only was he a big drinker, but playing drums would burn off much of the buzz while he was playing, so there were a few times he'd owe money to the bar or club at the end of the night!

So power drinkers can definitely run up a tab, which led me to the idea of some guy being so trapped in debt, that he'd have to work it off in multiple years, and that's where we ended up by the end of this quickie.

And thanks for letting me relive those youthful days being an idiot, drinking out in the back parking lot (to save money instead of paying a bar tab!) of a dive bar in between sets of old Willie, Waylon and Kenny, with shots of Garth and Billy Ray Cyrus sprinkled in to keep the line dancers happy. Maybe it's time to fire up some Roadhouse on the 4k TV! Pain don't hurt!
