I Mean, Who Doesn't Know How to Tie a Necktie?

Well, other than Damien, the male version of me? Yeah, he still hasn't a clue!

This is partially based on the real life me, who still hasn't learned how to tie a necktie. I actually have a thin silk tie from 20 years ago that my dad tied for me, and on the very rare chance I have to wear one, I put my head through the tied hole and slide the knot up to tighten it up as little as I possibly can. I also have 2 zipper ties I snagged from Walmart around 15 years ago, but I've never had to wear them luckily! I am now wondering if they made the last move in 2004.

Yes, I'm left handed and I hate having anything around my neck. As it is, I only have 2 shirts with a collar, and I've turned down jobs that have a dress code requirement of a tie, dress shirt and slacks. Luckily at my current job I can wear 3 button Henley shirts and black jeans, or cargo pants and shorts. So as I was saying above, this is based on how I feel about ties. I am betting many people here feel the same way! And don't get me started on sweaters either!

  1. Fun cap, I would be out of luck though. Besides me being a blue collar worker, to my dad it was important that I could tie my own ties, so he tought me very early how to tie the Half Windsor and Windsor knot. This in a time where it was an ability that lost its importance quickly. I can tie those left and right handed. I am ambidextorous by the way.
Because I only wear a tie on special occasions, sometimes I like to try something different. Nowadays there are a lot examples how to tie a tie. For me I find drawings of how to do it the best way to kearn a new way, and if I want to do the lefthanded version I simply mirror the image.

    1. Definitely a sales position!

I am not a fan of any sort of sweater! I wear hoodies though, as long as they are pullovers, not zippered.
